With two sports already sold out and three more nearing capacity, water polo competitors should register now for World Masters Games 2017 to secure their places.

WMG2017 organisers are expecting 25,000 athletes to compete in Auckland next year and are keen to accommodate as many athletes as possible. But there is a limit to the number of participants that can compete in many sports, particularly team sports, due to venue capacities.

Since registrations opened in February this year, they have been on a ‘first come, first served’ basis with athletes, including water polo, urged to get their registrations in early to secure their places.

New Zealand Water Polo CEO John Payne says the key thing for water polo competitors is to register now even if you don’t yet have a full team.

“If you do not have all your team members ready to go, one person can register as captain of a team to secure a place for your team at the Games,” he says.

Alternatively, if you don't have a team and still wish to play you can join the Games Community to put your hand up to join a team.
