There will be 2 AWP Social Leagues in 2024- Social League tahi (1), running from early May to late June, and Social League rua (2), running from late July until mid-September. Entries will open roughly 2 months prior to the start of the leagues.

The social leagues are aimed at providing a fun, social competition for those who prefer to play at a more casual level, to enjoy playing with mates. Previous experience playing water polo isn’t needed, but you definitely need to be a strong swimmer. Registrations will be accepted from teams as well as individuals looking to join a team for the term.

Social League tahi, May-June 2024

The intent for Social League tahi is to run in May and June, on Sunday afternoon at a central Auckland pool. This will be a league where masters, former players, school leavers can play weekly without having to commit too much time to training- just to pick up the ball and have a game. If you are new to water polo, you will need to be a strong swimmer in order to participate.

Aimed at players who do not play National League or D2WPL (retired players more than welcome), teams can be mixed-gender, and games will be played with 7 minute running clock quarters. The minimum age to play is 17.

Team registration costs are expected to be around $500 with all fees going towards covering pool hire cost, some necessary equipment and a referee for each game.
